Frequently Asked
Questions

  • If you are unsure about how the renewable personal tax credit will benefit you, YellowLite encourages you to contact a local tax professional. The tax credit does roll over every consecutive year until 2032 so there are multiple years to use the entire balance of the tax credit.

  • Dirt and debris accumulating on photovoltaic panels is referred to as soiling. This is not a concern for the NE region of the country due to our relatively clear atmosphere and regular rainfall.

  • Yes, you can. Many clients install systems in phases. If you are intending to add onto a system in the future, just let your account manager know, and the proper provisions will be taken to ensure the future system can be seamlessly integrated.

  • Our photovoltaic installations are guaranteed for ten years after your solar electric system becomes operational. The installed solar equipment carries its own product warranties and will be backed by the manufacturing company.

  • The electric rate is the amount you pay for your energy. The typical units are in dollars per kilowatt-hour, or $/kWh. So if you take your monthly electric bill and divide the amount of kWh you used in that month, you will get your rate. Most utilities in Ohio charge an electric rate of around $0.12/kWh. Most solar panel systems will be giving you electricity at a lower rate than you are currently paying, which means you will be saving from Day 1. Ask your YellowLite representative to show you your solar electric rate.

  • The array size you need depends on your average electrical usage, climate, roof angle, shading problems and many other factors. To approximate the array size you need, refer to our comprehensive solar calculator where you will be able to get a better idea of the system size needed to meet your electrical demand.
